Cross-Border HIV/AIDS
Prevention Training Program in

Northwest Mexico Border Region
This is a TIES (Training, Internship, Exchange,
Scholarships) program sponsored by USAID which
represents a partnership between the
University of
California, San Diego (UCSD), San Diego State University
(SDSU), El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (COLEF) and
Universidad Autonoma de Baja California at Tijuana
(UABC). We are jointly committed to developing an
HIV/AIDS program to improve the binational respone to
HIV/AIDS in northwestern Mexico and surrounding regions.

VISITANTES
April 10 an intensive eight hour course was
implemented with the Tijuana HIV/AIDS & STD program
for VCT and referral to four graduate level students and
six senior personal from the Tijuana's health department
(ISESALUD). After the intensive training, students
attended the VCT municipal clinic individually several
times to perform VCT under supervision of Dr.
Remedios Lozada, chief of the HIV/AIDS & STD
program in Tijuana.
